Grammy Winner To Perform At Elmhurst Military Benefit

Songwriters will share their experiences about how each hit song made it to the radio, organizers said.

ELMHURST, IL – A Grammy winner is among the songwriters who are set to appear at Elmhurst's 4th Annual Military Benefit, titled "Stories Behind the Songs."

The event is set for 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Nov. 11 at Elmhurst American Legion T.H.B. Post 187, 310 W. Butterfield Road.

  • Frank Myers, who won a Grammy in 1995 for co-writing John Michael Montgomery's "I Swear."
  • Wynn Varble, who wrote Darryl Worley's "Have You Forgotten," Brad Paisley's "Waitin' on a Woman" and Easton Corbin's "I'm a Little More Country Than That."
  • Danny Wells, who wrote George Strait's "Check Yes or No," Rascal Flatts' "These Days" and Collin Raye's "Couldn't Last a Moment."

During the benefit, the songwriters plan to share their personal experiences of how each hit song made it to the radio. They are also set to perform.

All proceeds will benefit the local American Legon and local veterans, organizers said.

General tickets are $125, with those 21 and older permitted. Tickets at the door will be $150.

The event will feature an open bar and "heavy" hors d'oeuvres, the American Legion said.
