Grant From ComEd Will Fund Live Music At Retirement Homes

ELMHURST, IL — The Elmhurst Choral Union is one of 13 organization from throughout Chicagoand to receive a grant from ComEd as part of their Powering the Arts program this year. Up to $10,000 could be spent on bringing live music performances to seniors living in local retirement communities who man not otherwise have access to music productions, ComEd said in a news release.

It's the second year ComEd is partnering with the League of Chicago Theatres to issue the grants. ComEd provides the funds and the league serves as program administer on how they are implemented.

“As an energy company, all of us at ComEd recognize that access to the arts has a tremendous ability to power our communities,” said Melissa Washington, vice president of governmental and external affairs at ComEd. “That’s why we are proud to partner with the League to support local arts and cultural institutions in their efforts to enrich the lives of residents who may otherwise have limited exposure to the arts.”
