Half Of Elmhurst D-205 Virus Cases At This School

The school's coronavirus caseload more than doubled in the last week, according to the latest report.

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst School District 205 saw the number of coronavirus cases more than double last week, according to its latest report.

As of Friday, the district reported 34 cases among students, up from 13 the week before. More than half of the cases were at one school, Jackson Elementary, with 18. It had none the week before.

Field Elementary and Madison Early Childhood Center had five and four cases, respectively.

York High School, which makes up a third of the district's students, had just one case as of Friday, down from four the week before.

Overall, the district reported one coronavirus case for every 250 students.

The number of district employees testing positive for the coronavirus increased to four, from two the previous week.

The district dropped its mask mandate in early February.

Since the beginning of the school year, the district has recorded 1,593 coronavirus cases among students and staff.

As of last Wednesday, Elmhurst Hospital reported six patients testing positive for the coronavirus. That's down from a record high of 105 in January.

In Elmhurst, the number of coronavirus cases has been generally falling over the last three months. Last week, 72 cases were reported in the city. That works out to one for every 650 people in town.

The city reached a weekly high of 599 in January.
