Halloween 2016 Eisenhower Shooting: Frankfort Man Arrested

Allante James Sewell, 23, from Frankfort, has been arrested for one felony count of aggravated discharge of a firearm.

ELMHURST, IL — A Frankfort man has been arrested in the expressway shooting from October 31, 2016, when shots were fired at a vehicle on I-290 eastbound at North Avenue. Allante James Sewell, 23, from Frankfort, has been arrested for one felony count of aggravated discharge of a firearm.

According to a release, officers responded at 8:30 p.m. Oct. 31 after a vehicle pulled up next to the driver's side of the victim's vehicle and Sewell, who was in the passenger seat, rolled down the window and fired two rounds from a semi-automatic handgun.

Police said one bullet struck the driver's side door of the victim's vehicle and the second bullet was not located. The victim briefly followed the vehicle Sewell was in, before pulling over and calling 911.

An investigation was conducted by the Illinois State Police and the United States Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force. During this investigation, police said Sewell was identified as a suspect.

According to a release, on April 18, investigators presented their findings to the DuPage County State’s Attorney Office. DuPage County State’s Attorney, Robert Berlin, approved one felony count of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, a Class 1 Felony. A $50,000 warrant was then issued for Sewell.

Sewell was arrested on May 9 by the Will County Sheriff’s Police and is currently in custody at the Will County Jail on unrelated charges of domestic battery and resisting a police officer.

Police said upon Sewell’s release, Sewell will be transported to the DuPage County Jail to be arraigned on the Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm Felony charge.
