Hammer-Wielding Man Breaks Into Elmhurst Store: Cops

ELMHURST, IL – A man broke into American Eagle Jewelry, 538 W. North Ave., before dawn Sunday morning, Elmhurst police said.

Officers responded to a commercial burglary alarm and found the front glass door shattered, according to a police report. The owner reviewed video footage and determined a silver certificate and two items of Peruvian currency were stolen, police said. The investigation is continuing, police said.

The suspect was described as white, carrying a yellow hammer, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and gray pants.
