He runs a business that manages more than $75 billion in assets.
ELMHURST, IL – A hedge fund manager and his wife donated nearly $14,000 to the Democratic candidate for state representative in Elmhurst.
On March 30, Michael and Cari Sacks each gave the campaign for Marti Deuter $6,900, the limit for individual donors in Illinois.
Sacks is the CEO of the Chicago-based GCM Grosvenor hedge fund, which says it manages more than $75 billion in assets. He is a member of the Obama Foundation and was considered an unofficial adviser of former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

Deuter, an Elmhurst alderwoman, is running against Republican Dennis Reboletti, Addison Township's supervisor, in the Nov. 5 election.
They are vying to succeed District 45 state Rep. Jenn Ladisch Douglass, who decided against running for a second term. In 2022, she defeated state Rep. Deanne Mazzochi, an Elmhurst Republican who served four years.

Over the last few elections, District 45 has been considered one of Illinois' few battlegrounds, with money pouring in from connected donors.
So far this year, money is trickling in for both candidates, which is expected to become a gusher later this year.
According to the latest financial reports, Deuter and Reboletti had $27,277 and $13,125, respectively, in their campaign bank accounts at the end of last month.
District 45 includes nearly all of Elmhurst and parts of Hinsdale, Western Springs and Westmont, among other towns.
In 2022, Reboletti lost in the costly battle for the District 23 Senate seat to Democratic incumbent Suzy Glowiak Hilton of Western Springs. She drew 54 percent of the vote to Reboletti's 46 percent.
In that race, Hilton collected $3.2 million in donations to Reboletti's $500,000. Hilton's seat is not up this year.
