Here's The Plan For Elmhurst St. Paddy's Parade

The organizers got lucky weather-wise with last March's parade.

ELMHURST, IL – The organizers of last March's Elmhurst St. Patrick's Day Parade got lucky weather-wise.

The temperatures reached the mid-60s. It was the third warmest day of the month.

An estimated 24,000 people showed up for the parade, which consisted of 141 entries, according to the parade committee.

"It is an event that the City of Elmhurst can be proud of every year," Jim O'Connor, the committee's chairman, said in a letter to the city government in late November. "It is ranked as the largest St. Patrick's Day parade in DuPage County."

Next year's parade is set for noon March 4. Organizers are planning the usual route – going along Spring Road, starting at Wilson Street and ending at the Canadian National railroad tracks in front of the old Silverado Grill.

On Monday, a City Council committee plans to look at the request to hold the parade March 4. The matter is set to then go to the full City Council.
