Here's The Story: Elmhurst Native Buys Brady House

She plans to keep the house "totally Brady" in celebration of the 1970s sitcom.

ELMHURST, IL – The kids in "The Brady Bunch" are in their 60s. But a few years ago, they took part in the renovation of the Los Angeles house pictured in exterior shots in the 1970s sitcom.

On Monday, Elmhurst native Tina Trahan bought the house for $3.2 million, down from the original price of $5.5 million.

In 2019, the child stars participated in the remodeling of the house on HGTV's "A Very Brady Renovation." The show was filmed on a set, but HGTV renovated the inside of the actual house on Dilling Street to appear as if it were the Brady house, with all the quirks of '70s-style furniture and interior design.

The house was put on the market in May. In an interview with Patch, Trahan said she would not live in the house.

"I feel you can't gut or renovate the house because then it wouldn't be the Brady house anymore," Trahan said.

Trahan, who grew up in Elmhurst and owns houses around the country, said she plans to use the two-story house for charity. For instance, she said, the winning bidder in a silent auction could use the house during the day.

Trahan said she really didn't want to use the house as an Airbnb.

"We don't want people having parties there," she said. "If I were to loan it out, it would be more for a daytime situation. I don't want to disturb the neighborhood. I'm keeping it totally Brady. This is 'The Brady Bunch' house."

She said she plans to continue 24-hour security at the house, as HGTV did.

According to the real estate advertisement, the house is believed to be the second most photographed house in the country after the White House.

Trahan's husband, Chris Albrecht, is a media executive who is the former CEO of HBO. In 2017, Trahan bought Stone Manor, the largest estate in Lake Geneva, for $16 million.

In Elmhurst, Trahan owns a house on Elmwood Terrace.
