He was trouncing Elmhurst's DiCianni in the Republican primary.
WHEATON, IL – Hinsdale's Greg Hart was leading in the Republican race for DuPage County Board chairman Tuesday night.
As of 9:40 p.m., Hart was ahead with 61 percent of the vote, compared with 39 percent for Elmhurst's Pete DiCianni, according to unofficial results. Both men are County Board members.

Board Chairman Dan Cronin, an Elmhurst Republican, decided against running for a fourth term.
Cronin endorsed Hart from the beginning. In 2020, Cronin alleged DiCianni, a former Elmhurst mayor, circulated a misleading robocall accusing the board of considering defunding police. Under pressure, DiCianni stepped down from the chairmanship of a key committee.

Historically, Republicans controlled the County Board. In 2018, Democrats won the majority of board seats.
This year may be tough for Democrats, so the winner of the Republican primary may have a good chance of winning in November.
