IC Catholic Prep Announces James as New Girls Basketball Coach

ICCP is pleased to announce the hiring of Kelsey James to lead the Girls Basketball Program.

IC Catholic Prep is pleased to announce the hiring of Kelsey James to lead the Girls Basketball Program. James attended Lake Forest College and then headed to Iowa to finish her college basketball career at Loras College in Dubuque. Previously, she had been a standout player for Marist High School (’07), playing four years on the varsity team and earning numerous awards during her time as a student athlete there.

In 2012, James took over the Girls Basketball program at Mt. Assisi High School in Lemont after a two-year stint as the junior varsity coach. She was the head coach at Mt. Assisi until the school closed at the end of the 2014-15 school year. James has also been coaching teams at the 15U and 17U levels at the Bulls/Sox Academy in Lisle since 2012.

“I am very excited to join the IC Catholic Prep family” said James, “It is an honor to be part of such a great program and I am looking forward to continuing the tradition of success at ICCP.”

“This program has done very well over the past few years and I am looking forward to preparing the girls to push us to the next level,” continued James.

James got to work right away, meeting with the players just two days after accepting the position. The Lady Knights will open their season on Monday, November 16th at 7:00pm at Oak Forest High School. On November 20th-27th, the Lady Knights will host the annual Knight Invite on their home court in Elmhurst.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kelsey to our coaching staff at IC Catholic Prep and look forward to her leadership in our Girls Basketball program” said ICCP Athletic Director, Tom Schergen. “Kelsey has strong Catholic school connections, she was a very competitive player, and she has been a successful head coach.”

“Our Girls Basketball program has achieved a tremendous amount of success in recent years and our interview committee felt the qualities and experience that Kelsey exhibits will help her continue the positive direction of our program” added Schergen.
