ICGS 4th Graders Celebrate Our Country
As is a tradition at ICGS, 4th graders participated in a parade of handmade mini parade floats as part of their study of America this year.
On Thursday, April 28th, fourth grade students at Immaculate Conception Grade School participated in a "Parade of States," a celebration of the fifty states they have studied throughout the school year. Each student made a mini parade float for their chosen state. These floats displayed land formations, native crops, businesses, and characteristics native to their respective states. Students paraded the floats into Immaculate Conception Parish's Monsignor Plunkett Hall for an audience of parents and guests. After the parade, the fourth graders led the audience in prayer and in the "Pledge of Allegiance." Then, students sang a rap song about the 50 states and performed a play where they had an opportunity to share the unique characteristics that make America great. Then, after reciting several poems, including part of Emma Lazarus', "The New Colossus," students rejoined their floats and answered questions about their states. Culinary treats were also shared with guests.
