ICGS 7th Graders Excel at Regional Science Fair
Recently, fifteen ICGS seventh graders medaled at the JDSTA Region 11 Science Fair. Several students received special recognition.
On Friday, March 11th, fifteen seventh graders, representing Immaculate Conception Grade School in Elmhurst, competed at the JDSTA Region 11 Science Fair at the University of St. Francis in Joliet. The students competed against the best science fair projects and papers from all over the Diocese of Joliet. In the science fair “paper” category, seven ICGS students received medals. Liam Dacre received a bronze medal, Luke Malaga, Edward Raniere, and Michael Kuhl received silver medals, and Ava Rucker, Sydney Malaga, and Katie Norgle received gold medals. In the “project” category, gold medals were awarded to Anna Dray, Aidan Janc, Therese Giannini, Anthony Lococo, Connor Fahey, Carl Knable, Madison Reaber, and Isabella Roelle. These eight students have qualified to compete at the state science fair at Millikin University in Decatur. In addition, special recognition (“Best in Category”) was given to the projects of Anna Dray, Aidan Janc, and Carl Knable. Finally, Anna Dray and Aidan Janc both received perfect scores from the judges. The Illinois Junior Academy of Science competition will take place on May 13th and 14th. These students are taught by ICGS junior high science teacher, Mr. Brad Tyzenhaus.
