ICGS Kindergarten Students Learn About Johnny Appleseed

As ICGS kindergarten students begin their STEM Unit on apples, they explore the life of Johnny Appleseed and dissect the apple.

On Tuesday, September 26th, as Immaculate Conception Grade School kindergarten students kicked off their STEM Unit on apples, they learned about Johnny Appleseed and discussed his life. The students then dissected apples, talked about their parts, and learned that the apple seed is called a "pip." Students then made apple art projects out of the letters of each of their names. Afterward, the apples were peeled and the students made homemade applesauce. To conclude the day's lesson, students made their own Johnny Appleseed hats.
