ICGS to Present Disney's, "Newsies!"
Rehearsals are currently underway for the March 1st, 2nd, & 3rd performances of "Newsies" by Immaculate Conception Grade School.
Rehearsals are in full swing at Immaculate Conception Grade School in Elmhurst for their upcoming spring musical, “Newsies,” sponsored by the school's Parents' Club. The show, a Disney musical that is loosely based on the actual Newsboys’ Strike that took place in New York City in 1899, is being directed by Emily Leonard, winner of the 2014 Award of Excellence in Creative Drama from the Illinois Theater Association. The musical director for the production is Elmhurst native, Helen Knudsen. There will be an eight piece orchestra. Musical numbers are being choreographed by ICGS alumni Mom, Peg Koch, and fifty-three ICGS 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are acting in the production along with several stage crew members. Tickets are $8 each and will be available for purchase at the door of the Immaculate Conception gymnasium theater. Two evening performances will take place at 7pm on Friday, March 1st and Saturday, March 2nd. Sunday, March 3rd’s performance will be a matinee at 2pm. All are welcome!
