Icy Sidewalks, Dealership Theft: Elmhurst Cops

Three people were sent to the hospital after slipping and falling on ice, police said.

ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled calls involving falls on icy sidewalks, a theft at a dealership, a domestic disturbance and a threatening text. Here is the information from the police reports:

Icy sidewalks

  • A woman said she was out for a walk about 11 a.m. Tuesday when she slipped and fell on an icy sidewalk at Stratford and South. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
  • A woman walking her dogs slipped and fell on an icy sidewalk about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at West and Belden. While tending to the victim's dogs, a man was pulled off balance, causing him to lose his balance and slip on the ice. They were taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Dealership theft

  • A car was burglarized about 6:30 p.m. Dec. 29 at Roesch Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership, 200 W. Grand Ave. The car's owner said several items were taken from the car while it was at the dealership for service. Surveillance video showed that someone entered the building through the unlocked southeast service door and entered the victim's car. The suspect was described as a man, 6-foot-1, 230 pounds, and wearing a knit cap, a dark jacket, dark pants and boots. The man's race was unknown. The report was filed Tuesday.

Domestic disturbance

  • A domestic disturbance took place about 11 a.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of North Adele Street. The suspect denied striking another person, saying their argument never got physical. No arrests were made because of conflicting statements and no signs of injuries.

Threatening text

  • A resident in the 400 block of West St. Charles Road told police that he received a threatening text from the mother of his child. It was learned the text was sent July 14, 2021. The suspect told police she recently filed for child support and that is why he was upset. The resident said he would forward any threatening messages to the reporting officer.
