Immigrant Workers Sue Elmhurst Firm: Report

The employees said their wages were cut without the required notice under state law, according to newspaper.

ELMHURST, IL – Two immigrant temporary workers filed a class action lawsuit against Elmhurst-based Superior Staffing and its client, alleging wage cuts in violation of the law, the Chicago Tribune reported Tuesday.

The workers said they received pay cuts at the beginning of the pandemic, but did not get the required notice under state law, according to the newspaper.

The Elmhurst company is Superior Staffing at 609 N. York St. Its client was FAREVA Morton Grove.

After getting the pay cut, worker Patricia Martinez said she told her employer she would be unable to afford to travel to work.

"They told me I had no right to complain because I didn’t work for the company; that I was just a temporary worker … they told me to accept this or leave. They made me feel disposable," she was quoted as saying in Spanish at a news conference last week.
