Inert Grenade Found In Elmhurst Neighborhood: Police
In another case, a person was discovered sleeping behind bushes at a public building, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving the discovery of a grenade, a person sleeping behind bushes, an unconscious person, a damaging turn, theft and DUI. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Grenade
- An inert grenade that looked like a rusty ball was found Tuesday on a property in the 100 block of North Glenview Avenue. DuPage County's bomb squad took possession of it.

- A person was found sleeping behind bushes about 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Elmhurst History Museum, 120 E. Park Ave. The person was given a no-trespass notice.
Unconscious person
- An unconscious person was lying on the ground about 9 a.m. Monday near Jewel, 944 S. York St. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

- While delivering lumber to a building site, a truck driver tried to turn around at a dead-end street and damaged a lawn. The incident occurred about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of South Hillside Avenue.
Disruptive
- A man disrupted customers by screaming into his phone about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Walgreens, 160 N. Robert Palmer Drive. The man was given a no-trespass notice.
Theft
- A man told police Wednesday that the locks on his lockers were damaged and found on the ground in the 300 block of North Route 83. Clothing, cologne and U.S. currency were missing from the lockers. An investigation is pending.
- Suspects crawled underneath a fence and stole batteries from trucks between Jan. 2 and Feb. 10 at Truck and Trailer Parts Store, 900 N. Larch Ave. An investigation is pending.
Retail theft
- Two suspects tried to steal two carts full of alcohol about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at Jewel, 944 S. York St. Because of a locked door, they abandoned the carts and left. An investigation is pending.
DUI
- A 28-year-old Addison man was arrested about 1 a.m. Tuesday at Lake Street and Grand Avenue on charges of DUI, no valid driver's license, failure to signal, driving an uninsured car, illegally transporting alcohol by a driver and marijuana possession. He was taken to the police station and then released. Three passengers – a 52-year-old man, a 42-year-old man and a 26-year-old man, all from Addison – were cited on charges of transportation of alcohol by passengers.
