Jefferson Elementary School Celebrates 60 years in Elmhurst

Throughout this school year, Jefferson Elementary School, Principal Leslie Weber and the Jefferson PTA created various activities to bring about some nostalgia and fun in remembering this great school through the years.

In the weeks leading up to Jefferson’s big All-School Sock Hop, students and staff counted down the decades from the present to the 1950s. During the “Decade of the Week“ students dressed up in the fashions of a particular decade, the principal shared some fun facts during announcements and, at the end of each week, the whole school had a dance party in the hallways to music of the specific decade.

Last week was “’50s week” at Jefferson. The students and teachers celebrated by dressing up in the Fabulous 50s Fashion. The celebration of Jefferson’s 60th anniversary ended with a bang as students, parents and staff rocked around the clock at the 60th Anniversary Jefferson Sock Hop, held Friday, April 10, from 6-9pm at Jefferson. The Sock Hop was sponsored by the Jefferson PTA. This free event featured an amazing DJ - Oliver Vasilopoulos (a District 205 parent), special dance instructors who taught some 50s dance moves, a photo booth, fun games, snacks and ice cream.
