Jim Peterik packed the House and showed guests what it is to be a legendary performer, bringing laughs, cheers, and thunderous applause throughout the evening at ECPA’s “An Intimate Evening with…” series last Thursday night at Buik Recital Hall on the campus of Elmhurst University.
Jim Peterik opened the night treating guests to hits by Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, and the Beatles before welcoming The Ides of March onstage to sing You Wouldn’t Listen and other favorites from the band.
Introducing the song as he has since 1970, Peterik invited York Director of Bands, Mike Pavlik, and Symphonic Band students Matthew Markwald, Julian Dominguez, and Vasili Malamis on stage to join him in the performance of “Vehicle”, the 1970 hit that took Jim Peterik and The Ides to the top of the charts. The crowd thanked the musicians with roaring applause and a standing ovation.

To the delight of all in attendance, Cathy Richardson, lead vocalist of Jefferson Starship, joined the band on stage and they rocked through classics High On You, The Search is Over, I Can’t Hold Back, Hold On Loosely, and Caught Up In You, among others. The evening concluded with Jim Peterik taking questions from those in the audience in a Q&A session moderated by Cathy Richardson.
