Jolly Old St. Nick Concert Kicks Off Holidays on Dec. 1

Lean your ear this way! The Elmhurst History Museum presents the free Jolly Old St. Nicholas Concert on at Yorkfield Presbyterian Church.

Before there was Santa Claus, there was St. Nicholas, known as the “bearer of gifts.” On December 6th, many Europeans still celebrate St. Nicholas Day, and many of our well-known Christmas traditions emerged from this holiday.

The Elmhurst History Museum invites guests of all ages to celebrate the holidays, history, and Elmhurst’s German roots with a concert of German carols and an appearance by Jolly Old St. Nick. The fourth annual Jolly Old St. Nicholas Concert takes place on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at the Yorkfield Presbyterian Church, located at 1099 South York Street in Elmhurst. Admission is FREE, and no reservations are required. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The festivities will be led by Jolly Old St. Nicholas who will share the legendary story that made him renowned around the world. St. Nick will be joined by the beautiful voices and jingling bells of two long-standing Elmhurst choirs that have been singing traditional German carols and songs in the area for 80 years, the Damenchor (Women’s Chorus) and the Männerchor (Men’s Choir).
