Laurie McMahon is the Child's Voice Voice From the Heart Honoree

Child's Voice will recognize Laurie McMahon on November 3rd at the Child's Voice Autumn Gala

Child’s Voice has selected Laurie McMahon as the 2018 Voice from the Heart Honoree, an award that will be shared at the November 3, 2018 Child’s Voice Autumn Gala. The Gala raises funds to support Child’s Voice programs, benefitting students with hearing loss and their families. It will be held at the Westin Lombard and features the presentation of this Award along with speeches from Child’s Voice alumni.

“Laurie has been a member of the Child’s Voice family for nearly 22 years,” shared Dr. Michele Wilkins (Naperville), Executive Director of Child’s Voice. “She has guided her son through our Programs, and encouraged his involvement and participation since his graduation at the age of 6. Laurie has remained loyal to the mission of Child’s Voice, serving as a Board member, committee member, and dedicated supporter of the students at Child’s Voice. We are thrilled to honor her with the Voice from the Heart Award.”

Introduced in 2016, the Voice from the Heart Award recognizes an individual that has given exemplary and dedicated service to Child’s Voice. One who has impacted the organization, but more importantly, the children and families of Child’s Voice. Past honorees include Mike Walters (Glenview) and Mark Levy (Chicago).

Students wear hearing aids and/or cochlear implants and programs use a child-focused, research-based curriculum, all with the end goal of transitioning graduates back to their neighborhood schools. Child’s Voice serves over 300 children and their families each year and has two locations in Wood Dale and the Roscoe Village neighborhood in Chicago.
