ELMHURST, IL – Yorky's restaurant, 836 N. York St., plans a second location in town.

The restaurant wants to set up shop in the old Back Alley Burger location at 609 W. St. Charles Road. It is seeking the city's permission for a drive-thru lane.

The restaurant has been in operation at its current location since 1975 and was rebuilt in the last decade.

In October, Mirjan Sadik, owner of Yorky's, filed a request for a drive-thru at the new location. In an interview, Sadik told Patch that he hopes to open the new eatery by late summer next year.

"This will make it convenient for our customers to order and pick up in a timely fashion and will allow for a more effective and efficient window," the restaurant said in its application.

The city's Zoning and Planning Commission plans to review Yorky's application at its meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Yorky's says it specializes in broasted chicken as well as gyros, Greek salads, kebabs and pasta.

Editor's note: An original version of the story incorrectly said the proposed drive-thru was for the current location.
