Mail Delivery Problems Again In Elmhurst
The post office explains what is happening with its service.
ELMHURST, IL — For the first time in months, the Elmhurst post office is suffering major issues with mail delivery.
In response to a Patch inquiry Monday, a U.S. Postal Service spokeswoman apologized for any inconvenience Elmhurst residents may have experienced.
"Local management is aware of delivery issues in Elmhurst and is taking steps to address the concerns," spokeswoman Elizabeth Najduch said in an email. "It is expected that mail delivery will improve this week."

She said the post office's workforce, like others, is not immune from the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.
"We will continue flexing our available resources to match the workload, and we are proud of the efforts of postal employees in Elmhurst, and the nation, as they define essential public service every day," Najduch said.

Last winter and summer, residents told Patch they often went days without getting mail. Those reports started surfacing again in the last week.
"My neighbors and I have not been receiving mail regularly in Elmhurst. Some say their last delivery was before Christmas," a woman wrote on the Patch website over the weekend. "This seems prevalent all over the town."
A man wrote that he had not received any mail in the last week.
"I thought that it was just us, but two of my neighbors said the same thing," he said.
In her email, Najduch said the post office addresses specific issues when they are brought to its attention. Customers can also go to the post office's "contact us" page. Every email will be carefully documented and appropriate action taken to strengthen service, Najduch said.
