Man Accused Of Hate Crimes In Elmhurst: Cops

The man was taken to the DuPage County Jail, where he remained days later, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – An Arlington Heights man was arrested Thursday in a hate crime incident in Elmhurst, police said.

About 3 p.m., James Joseph, 67, was arrested at York Street and Cayuga Avenue on two counts of hate crimes and one count of disorderly conduct. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail, where he remained Monday.

Police said Joseph yelled racial slurs and made threats to harm a Pace bus driver at York Street and Cayuga Avenue. Joseph then yelled and threatened officers, police said.
