Man Arrested In Elmhurst Store Attack: Cops

The suspect sped away from an officer who spotted his car, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – A man who battered an employee at an Elmhurst store earlier this month was arrested Sunday, police said.

Paris Durr, 32, of Chicago, was arrested on charges of felony retail theft, burglary and aggravated battery.

About 8 p.m., an officer saw Durr's Ford Explorer, which was connected to a retail theft in Willowbrook, police said. It was discovered the car was also used in a Sept. 9 incident at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St. in Elmhurst, police said.

When the officer tried to stop Durr, the suspect sped away, heading east on Roosevelt Road from Route 83 and then crashing near the ramp to eastbound Interstate 290, police said.

Durr was apprehended and released to Willowbrook police.

In the Sept. 9 incident, two men were seen stealing merchandise, with one of them battering the worker, and then leaving in a white Ford Explorer, police said.

Police said the worker was taken to the hospital.
