Man Arrested Twice in Elmhurst On Same Day: Cops

The man was arrested at the hospital and a gas station, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving disorderly conduct, retail theft, car burglaries, trespassing, DUI, a bitcoin scam, catalytic converter thefts and odometer fraud. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Arrested twice

  • A 33-year-old Oak Park man was arrested about 4 p.m. Wednesday at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road, on a disorderly conduct charge. Police said he caused a disturbance and pushed an employee. He was released and issued a no-trespass notice. Shortly before midnight the same day, police responded to a retail theft at the BP gas station 217 E. Butterfield Road. The same man had stolen alcohol, police said. He was arrested on two retail theft charges.

  • Several unlocked vehicles were burglarized about 3 a.m. Tuesday on South Street, Arlington Avenue, Kearsage Avenue and Crescent Avenue.

Trespassing

  • A 39-year-old Elmhurst man was arrested about 3 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of West Fay Avenue on a trespassing charge. The man was not supposed to be at a house. He was released.

DUI

  • A 26-year-old Hillside woman was arrested about 1 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of East St. Charles Road on a DUI charge. Police said they found the woman slumped behind the wheel. She was taken to the police station and then released.

Bitcoin scam

  • A resident in the 100 block of Melrose Avenue sent money in bitcoin transactions between April and December. The case was reported as a theft. An investigation is pending.

Converter thefts

  • Fourteen catalytic converters were stolen from parked vehicles between Jan. 9 and Jan. 12 at Aim Transportation Solutions, 782 N. Industrial Drive. An investigation is pending.
  • A catalytic converter was stolen between Jan. 9 and Jan. 12 from a parked car at Sports Court, 747 N. Church Road.

Odometer fraud

  • A man altered the odometer on his Honda Odyssey minivan and fraudulently received free service from the business Dec. 1 at the Honda on Grand dealership, 300 W. Grand Ave. The report was filed Monday.

Porch piracy

  • Someone stole two laptops about 6:30 p.m. Monday on a front porch in the 700 block of North Kenilworth Avenue.

Drunk

  • A drunk man fell and hit his head about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Extended Stay America hotel, 550 W. Grand Ave. The man was found to have an unserved order of protection against him. He was given the order and taken to the hospital.

Domestic disturbance

  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 5 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of West Fay Avenue. A man had an unserved order of protection and was asked not to return to the house.
