Man Coughs On Person Purposely: Elmhurst Cops

Suspect told other person no one could make him follow social distancing, report says.

ELMHURST, IL — Police were called to a dispute about 5 p.m. Friday at Shell Oil, 218 E. Butterfield Road. A person told police he was in an argument with a man who exited his car while it was inside the car wash. The man got in the person's face, coughed and stated no one could make him follow social distancing rules, police said. The man was served a no-trespass notice.

  • Darren C. Haywood, 18, of Chicago, was arrested at 4 p.m. April 3 at Napleton Acura, 727 W. Grand Ave., on a charge of financial identity theft. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, police responded to a fraud in progress at Napleton. Haywood attempted to use a fictitious Illinois driver's license to buy a car, police said.
  • Jorge Vargas, 24, of Glendale Heights, was arrested shortly before midnight April 5 in the 700 block of North Willow on a charge of possession of open alcohol in a motor vehicle. The driver was Bianca M. Medina, 22, of Glendale Heights, who was charged with operating an uninsured motor vehicle. They were released on bond. According to a police report, Medina and Vargas were arguing in a moving car when it veered off the road and struck a mailbox and a lightpole.
  • A woman told police that another dog bit her dog's leg about 7 p.m. April 2 in the 200 block of North Berteau.
  • Police were called about 3 p.m. April 2 to Extended Stay America, 550 W. Grand Ave., about two guests who failed to pay for their hotel room. The suspects said they were unable to pay the amount because of the recent crisis. Management agreed to waive the fee if the suspects vacated the room the next day.
  • Police were called about 9:30 p.m. April 3 to Extended Stay America, 550 W. Grand Ave., about a domestic disturbance. The woman said after an argument, the suspect threatened to kill her. She deactivated the suspect's room key and planned to call the police if the suspect returned. Police could not find the suspect.
  • A diseased skunk was "humanely" euthanized about 6 p.m. April 5 at Crestview Park, 245 E. Crestview Ave.
