Man Stabs Woman Inside Closed Elmhurst Portillo's Restaurant: Cops
Police found the suspect, who was part of a cleaning crew at the restaurant, with a self-inflicted injury 3 hours later, officials said.

ELMHURST, IL – A woman was stabbed with a knife inside Elmhurst's Portillo's restaurant early Wednesday morning, police said.
A 32-year-old man was part of a contracted cleaning crew with two other women, one of whom was his domestic partner, according to a police news release.
About 5:30 a.m., the man attacked his domestic partner with two large knives inside the restaurant, police said. The women escaped and sought help from a passing driver, calling 911.

The victim suffered a minor injury, police said. The restaurant was closed at the time, and no one else was inside.
Officers were able to enter the restaurant about 8:30 a.m. They found the man lying inside suffering from a self-inflicted injury, police said. He was taken to the hospital.

The Elmhurst Crossing shopping center was closed until 9:30 a.m.
The suspect remains in the custody of Elmhurst police while under medical care. Police said criminal charges would be announced later.
