Man Nabbed In Elmhurst Distract-And-Steal Scheme: Cops
In another case, a man pushed two people in a domestic disturbance at a local park, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In recent days, Elmhurst police arrested people on charges of theft, domestic battery, retail theft and DUI. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst arrest log:
Theft
- A 64-year-old Chicago man was arrested Thursday on charges of attempted unlawful possession of a credit or debit card, attempted identity theft and theft not exceeding $500. The incident occurred Oct. 26, 2024, at Walgreens, 160 N. Robert Palmer Drive. Police said the man and a woman distracted a woman and stole her Gucci purse, which contained her credit card, money and a spare house key. The man was released.

- A 34-year-old Plainfield man was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Plunkett Park, 186 S. West Ave., on two counts of domestic battery. Police said the man got upset and pushed two people. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Retail theft
- A 28-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Jewel, 944 S. York St., on charges of retail theft and driving a car with a suspended registration. Police said the man admitted to stealing a bottle of alcohol. He was released.

- A 70-year-old Elmhurst woman who lives in the 500 block of South Mitchell Avenue was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Friday at Spring and Butterfield roads on charges of DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, transportation of alcohol by a driver and improper lane usage. She was taken to the police station and then released.
- A 28-year-old West Chicago woman was arrested about 4 a.m. Thursday at North Avenue and Route 83 on charges of DUI, improper lane usage and driving an uninsured car. He was taken to the police station and then released.
- A 30-year-old Carol Stream woman was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Saturday at North Avenue and Route 83 on charges of DUI, improper lighting and driving an uninsured car. She was taken to the police station and then released.
