Man Punches Metra Conductor After Refusing To Pay Fare: County

A Dolton man has been charged after allegedly punching a Metra conductor in the face, the county said.

ITASCA, IL — A Dolton man has been charged after allegedly punching a Metra conductor in the face, the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office said. Keimon Snow, 24, has been charged with one county of aggravated battery. He appeared at a bond hearing on Sept. 15, where Judge Anthony Coco set bond at $30,000 with 10 percent to apply.

The State's Attorney's Office said Snow allegedly boarded a Metra train in Itasca heading into Chicago at 9 a.m. Sept. 14. When the train reached the Wood Dale stop, Snow had refused to pay his $8 fare when asked by the conductor. The conductor asked Snow to exit the train at the Wood Dale stop, and both Snow and the conductor exited the train in Wood Dale.

According to the Attorney's Office, while Snow and the conductor were on the platform, Snow allegedly punched the conductor in the side of the face. Snow then fled the scene, but was arrested a short time later by Metra Police.

“Physically attacking a train conductor in an attempt to avoid paying your $8 train fare, as alleged in this case, will not be tolerated. Thankfully the conductor was not seriously injured and did not require medical treatment," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a release.

Snow’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 15, for arraignment in front of Judge Jeffrey Mackay. He has also been charged with one count of misdemeanor theft of services for allegedly not paying his fare.
