Man Throws Towel At Someone Near Elmhurst Church: Police

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving battery, domestic battery, a suspect fleeing an officer, soliciting without a permit, a "highly intoxicated" 19-year-old, scams and porch piracy. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Battery

• A 29-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 5 p.m. Saturday on a battery charge. Police said the man threw a towel in another person's face in the area of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Demetrios, 893 N. Church St. The man, who was given a no-trespass notice, was released.

Domestic battery

• A 26-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 200 block of East South Street was arrested about 4 p.m. Sunday on a domestic battery charge. Police said the man pushed someone else during an argument at his house. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Fleeing and eluding

• Angel Garcia-Garcia, 21, of Bensenville, was arrested about 10 p.m. Friday at Butterfield Road and Route 83 on charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding an officer, reckless driving, speeding, improper lighting, disobeying a stop sign, disobeying a traffic light and driving an uninsured car. Police said Garcia-Garcia drove away after an officer tried to stop him. He was later found at his house. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Soliciting without a permit

• A 19-year-old Hartford, Connecticut, man was cited about 4:30 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of West Fremont Avenue on a charge of soliciting without a permit.
• A 21-year-old Folsom, California, man was cited about 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of South Hillside Avenue on a charge of soliciting without a permit.

"Highly intoxicated"

• A 19-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 400 block of West Montrose Avenue was cited about 5 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of South Fairfield Avenue on a charge of possession or consumption of alcohol by a minor. He was described as "highly intoxicated." The teen, who was about a block from his house, was released to his father.

Scams

• A resident in the 600 block of North Michigan Street told police Thursday that he received a phone call from a person posing as a Fifth Third Bank employee. The resident provided his personal information to the suspect. He later learned a new debit card was issued for his account and that withdrawals had been made. An investigation is pending.
• A resident in the 1000 block of South Euclid Avenue told police Thursday that a person called her and claimed to be with Wells Fargo Bank's IT security. The person informed the resident that a fraud attempt was made on her account. The caller persuaded the resident to send money to a person in California. An investigation is pending.

Porch piracy

• Two packages were stolen about 10 p.m. Friday from a front porch at a house in the 400 block of West Grantley Avenue.
