Man Tries to Steal $470-Worth of Baby Formula from Elmhurst Mariano's

When the man saw police officers, he abandoned the cart full of formula and fled the store.

Elmhurst police were on a routine walk-through at Mariano’s on North York Street when officers saw a suspicious man with a shopping cart full of baby formula, worth $474.24.

When Refugio Mata, age 41 of the 2200 block of North Keystone, Chicago, saw the police officers, he abandoned the cart and fled the store, according to Elmhurst police.

Officers contacted Mata in the parking lot. He was arrested for burglary and brought to county jail.
