Man In Trouble With Elmhurst Cops Again: Report

Last year, the man spat on an officer and struck him, police say.

ELMHURST, IL – A man who was accused of attacking an Elmhurst police officer last year was charged over the weekend in connection with a confrontation, police said.

Joseph L. Taglia, 41, of Glendale Heights, was charged with disorderly conduct and then released.

According to a police report, Taglia approached another man, clenched his fists and yelled at him. Taglia later admitted he confronted the other man, police said. The incident was reported to have occurred about 11 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Elmhurst Avenue.

In August 2020, Taglia was lying on the ground at York Street and Butterfield Road when Elmhurst police officers and medics approached him, police said.

When an officer asked for Taglia’s address, he yelled and approached the officer threateningly, according to a report. He then spit on the officer and struck him, police said. He was charged with aggravated battery and resisting arrest. That case is pending.

In 2018, Taglia was arrested in the 200 block of Butterfield on charges of disorderly conduct and violating a no-trespass order.
