Man Uses Slurs Against Elmhurst Cop: Police
The man was accused of hitting and spitting at a store worker.

ELMHURST, IL – A man who had just struck a worker at an Elmhurst store used a string of slurs against an Elmhurst officer, police said.
Patch obtained the police report involving James Porter, 55, of Wheaton, through a public records request.
About 10:30 a.m. July 6, police said they were called to CVS Pharmacy, 110 W. North Ave., about a man, identified as Porter, threatening an employee.

A short while later, an officer saw Porter walking near York and Third streets. Porter called the officer a "f-g--t," a "white n----r" and "incompetent," according to the report.
Porter told officers that he was trying to get medication at CVS and that the store declined to let him make a call. He denied making contact with anyone at the store.

The store manager said Porter screamed and swore at employees after they refused to let him use a phone, police said.
The manager said he spoke with Porter near the front doors. There, Porter said he owned CVS and told the manager, "F--- you, b---h," the report said.
The manager said Porter then lunged at him, hit his face and then spit on him, police said.
During a search, officers found a broken glass smoking pipe with charred ends, apparently used for drugs, police said. Porter told officers that he used the pipe for smoking crack, the report said.
Surveillance video showed Porter lunging at and striking the manager, police said.
Three days earlier, Porter was arrested on a retail theft charge at CVS, meaning he violated his bail bond conditions in the later incident, police said.
Porter was charged with simple battery, assault and possession of drug paraphernalia.
