3 Suspects In Custody After Elmhurst Burglary, Car Theft
Police activity in Elmhurst continues Monday morning after police say two burglary suspects hit a squad car and fled near West and Gladys.

ELMHURST, IL - UPDATE: Three suspects are in custody after a police manhunt on Monday morning. The suspects are involved in a burglary and auto theft that occurred in north Elmhurst, police said. Police are still looking for a fourth suspect, but it is believed he has left the area.
Elmhurst Police responded at 5 a.m. Monday in the 600 block of Fay for a report of a prowler in a garage. Police said two vehicles were observed leaving the area and officers attempted to stop the cars. Both vehicles fled and struck a marked squad car in the 400 block of West Avenue, and the suspects fled the scene on food. The vehicles the suspects were in were stolen from Elmhurst and Villa Park.
Police said the three suspects were located in the 400 block of West North, at North Avenue and Ridgeland, and in the 400 block of West Avenue. A loaded handgun was recovered from one of the suspects.

According to police, this investigation remains ongoing and at this point, it is believed that the suspects may have been entering unlocked cars and garages in order to steal items of value and cars with keys in the ignition.

Police in Elmhurst are looking for two garage burglary suspects who struck a police car and fled on foot Monday morning. The burglary at Fay and IL-83 occurred around 5 a.m. Monday and when police tried to stop a car in connection with the crime, the car fled and struck the squad car near the intersection of West and Gladys, according to a WGN report. West Avenue was closed to traffic between Lake Street and North Avenue as police looked for the suspects in the area.
Several suspects fled on foot, NBC reports. Other nearby police departments are assisting the Elmhurst police with the use of K-9 officers and some nearby schools were put on a lockdown as the search for the suspects continued Monday morning around 8 a.m.
One of the teenage was described as having short hear and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt while another had a "thin build," according to NBC. They both are said to have fled eastbound on Freemont.
A significant police presence remains in the downtown Elmhurst area as of 8:15 a.m.
The officer who was struck in the hit-and-run involving the police car was not injured, FOX 32 reporter Joanie Lum reported on Twitter.
