Mazzochi Invites Seniors to Fall Prevention Seminar
State Rep. Deanne Mazzochi and the DuPage Care Center are hosting the seminar at the Oak Brook Library for older residents to avoid falls

State Representative Deanne Mazzochi (R-Elmhurst) is hosting an in person seminar for older residents looking for information, exercises, and tips on how to stay balanced and avoid falls.
“It can get hectic and busy around the holidays, causing people to be less careful and lead to potentially dangerous situations where they can injure themselves,” Rep. Mazzochi said. Falling down is the biggest source of injuries in adults over 65, whether it is due to balance issues or simply an errant electrical cord. According to the National Council on Aging, every 11 seconds, an older adult visits the emergency room for a fall.
“Accidents happen,” Rep. Mazzochi continued,” but we should all take care to learn how best to prevent them.”

The seminar will help teach seniors how to keep their balance, prevent falls and maintain their independence. The seminar will be led by a licensed physical therapist and the manager of rehabilitation services at the DuPage Care Center who is working towards her certification as a specialist in fall prevention.
The in-person seminar will be held at the Oak Brook Library. Monday, 11/22 from 10:30am-11:30am. If you have any questions about the event, call Rep. Mazzochi’s office at 630-852-8633.
