Mazzochi Still Mum On Election Loss
A Democrat is set to take the District 45 seat in eight days.

ELMHURST, IL – In eight days, Elmhurst Democrat Jenn Ladisch Douglass is set to become the new state representative for House District 45, which includes all or parts of Elmhurst, Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills, Western Springs, Westmont and other towns.
But Republican Deanne Mazzochi of Elmhurst has not conceded her loss. She has been the District 47 representative since 2018. Because of redistricting, she ran in District 45.
Mazzochi has not put out a statement on her campaign Facebook page in 47 days. Meanwhile, she has regularly posted on her official state representative's page – for instance, on New Year's Eve, she urged people not to drink and drive.

A couple of weeks ago, she paid for the county to conduct a partial recount. With that information, she could file a lawsuit to challenge the election. But she had not done so as of Tuesday morning, according to DuPage County court records.
Mazzochi has not returned repeated Patch messages for comment.

In the last few days, an Elmhurst GOP official appears to have avoided the topic of the District 45 race.
On New Year's Day, a resident in Elmhurst's southwestern corner emailed a flyer to Patch that he said his precinct's Republican committeewoman just hand-delivered him.
In the flyer, the committeewoman, Carolyn Carrillo, listed the vote counts for state and federal races in the area. Missing was the one for District 45 state representative. Carrillo could not be immediately reached for comment.
In the Nov. 8 election, Douglass prevailed with 50.4 percent of the vote, according to certified returns. That's a margin of 365 votes out of more than 43,000.
In late November, Douglass declared victory after the county certified the results.
