Memorial Day Parade Planned In Elmhurst
This year's Grand Marshal is Elmhurst resident Mark Mallon, a Colonel in the United States Army Reserve.

ELMHURST, IL — The annual Memorial Day Parade in Elmhurst will step off at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 28. The parade is presented by the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Elmhurst American Legion T.H.B. Post 187, Veterans of Foreign Wars Villa Park Post 2801, the City of Elmhurst and Elmhurst Park District.
The parade starts from Third Street, and then will head south on York Street to Second Street, veer east along Robert Palmer Drive through the underpass and west back to York Street, south on York Street to Church Street, west on Church Street to Prospect Avenue and north on Prospect Avenue past the Veterans Memorial.
According to the park district, the parade will be followed by the post-parade ceremony at 11 a.m. A pair of Beechcraft T-34s flown by members of the Lima Lima Flight Team will perform a variety of aerial maneuvers once the parade steps off.

The park district website shares that this year’s Grand Marshal is Elmhurst resident Mark Mallon, a Colonel in the United States Army Reserve specializing in Psychological Operations and Bronze Star Medal recipient who served two tours in Iraq (2003-04 and 2005-06) and one tour in Afghanistan (2012-13).
There will more than 1,600 U.S. flags on display in Wilder Park over Memorial Day weekend, which will honor Vietnam War service members who were prisoners of war and missing in action. Next to the Veterans Memorial will also be the traditional display of four rows of white wooden crosses featuring nameplates of deceased Elmhurst veterans, including many who were killed in action, according to the park district.
