Milton Francis Honel, 86, Former Principal, Past D205 School Board Member

Milton (Milt) Francis Honel, 86, of Elmhurst, IL, passed away June 8, 2015, after a long illness.
A memorial service will be held at Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Elmhurst, IL on July 18 with visitation from 9 am until time of mass at 10 am.
Milt was born in Chicago. He received his masters and doctorate degrees in Education from Loyola University and Northern Illinois University and proudly served in the army for a year.

Milt married Rosalie Walsh on June 20, 1953; they enjoyed nearly 62 years of marriage. Milt and Rosalie had an exceptionally close and supportive marriage; Milt demonstrated his love for Rosalie by helping to care for her until recently as her health deteriorated due to Alzheimer’s Disease.
Milt worked as a school principal at various elementary schools including Parkview, Nixon, Edison, Washington and Field located in Morton Grove, Westchester and Elmhurst. A lifelong learner and educator, he also taught at National-Louis University, Elmhurst College, and College of DuPage.

Milt was proud of having achieved the Eagle Scout rank as a young man. He passionately enjoyed politics, religious activities, reading, cross-country skiing, winter and summer camping, canoeing, and backpacking. He had an enduring interest in the world around him.
Milt is survived by his wife Rosalie(Walsh) Honel; children Marian(Jim Wilson) Honel-Wilson, Pat(John) Fogarty, Michael, Martin(Marie), Terese(Richard) Bailey, Cindy(Tim) Webster, and 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Milt was preceded in death by his mother Frances(nee Sulan) and father Frank Honel.
