Missing Man In Elmhurst Found Dead In Town: Police

ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst police on Sunday found the body of a man who had gone missing in town a week ago, authorities said Monday.

The body was positively identified by the DuPage County coroner's office as Gabriel De Sagun, 28, Elmhurst police said.

His body was found by a police drone in the water of the east quarry, police said.

Last week, Elmhurst officers and firefighters deployed K-9 teams, drones, boats and sonar technology in the search for De Sagun, police said.

Daily drone flights of the quarry continued until the body was found.

On Monday, a family member dropped off De Sagun to pick up his car on West Avenue. The family member arrived home in Naperville, but De Sagun did not, police said.

Police said they found De Sagun's car unoccupied in a townhome parking lot in the 200 block of North West Avenue. The quarry is next to that block.

Police said the investigation would continue, but they said they had no other information available for release.

Police Chief Michael McLean thanked the efforts of first responders, including those from elsewhere, and local volunteers in the search.

"On behalf of the Elmhurst Police Department, I extend my deepest condolences to Gabriel's family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time," McLean said in the statement. "We respectfully ask that Gabriel's family be afforded privacy as they grieve."
