Mom Thanks Elmhurst Firefighters for Making Her Son's Day

Jennifer Duzinskas said her son hasn't stopped talking about his unplanned adventure in the fire engine.

My name is Jennifer Duzinskas and we live in Bensenville. My son, Dominick, and I drove to Mariano’s last night to shop. Dominick is three years old and absolutely loves fire trucks. Before we even got out of the car, he saw the Elmhurst fire truck parked outside.

The three fire fighters were just walking out to the truck when we were walking up. When we walked up, the fire fighters immediately started talking to him. They asked him how he was doing. Dominick told them how big the truck was. They asked if he wanted to sit. He said sure. He wouldn’t let them help him up so I lifted him in. The guys gave him a hat, which he took to bed with him last night. We told them that most of our family are volunteer fire fighters in NY. Dominick was in awe looking around at everything in the truck. We told them that we would let them go so they could go cook dinner. Dominick later asked me what they were having for dinner. I told him I didn’t know. Dominick thinks that they had pizza.

Dominick got out and started asking about their radios on their belt. They told him it was a radio. Dominick promptly explained that they had them so they could call and let people know when there is an emergency. Dominick said thank you and we went in to start our shopping. It was a brief exchange but had a huge impact on my son. Thank you to the fire fighters who made his day. The hat goes with him wherever he goes and he hasn’t stopped talking about the fire truck.
