Despite the steady rain, community spirit was on full display in Stone Park last week as more than 200 residents attended a Nicor Gas Community Connection Resource Fair hosted in partnership with State Rep. Norma Hernandez and the Village of Stone Park.

The event brought together local leaders, community organizations and service providers to ensure families had access to resources that can make a meaningful difference in their daily lives. Residents received a week's worth of groceries while also learning about programs designed to help manage household expenses, improve energy efficiency and connect with local support services.

Attendees had the opportunity to explore a variety of resources, including free home energy assessments, energy-saving programs, utility bill payment assistance and information about community services available throughout the area. The fair was designed to provide practical support while connecting neighbors with organizations that can help address both immediate needs and long-term household challenges.

The strong turnout demonstrated the importance of making community resources accessible and highlighted the collaborative effort between local government, community organizations and Nicor Gas. Organizers noted that residents remained engaged throughout the event despite the rainy weather, underscoring the community's commitment to supporting one another.

Nicor Gas extended its appreciation to Mayor Beniamino Mazzulla, Village Clerk Laura Cassidy-Hatchet, the Stone Park Police Department and the many community partners whose efforts helped make the event a success.

The Community Connection Resource Fair is part of Nicor Gas' ongoing commitment to supporting the communities it serves by connecting residents with programs, information and assistance that can help strengthen households and improve quality of life.
