More Elmhurst Mandates For Builders Possible

ELMHURST, IL – Four aldermen want the city to consider requiring home builders to accommodate future solar panels and car charging stations.

They want guidelines to ensure easy installation of panels and Level 2 charging capabilities.

"It's a lot easier to install L2 chargers and solar panels when a new construction home has already accounted for the required infrastructure," the aldermen said in a memo this week.

The aldermen are Mike Brennan, Chris Jensen, Jacob Hill and Rex Irby.

On Monday, the City Council is set to vote on sending the issue to one of its committees.
