More Elmhurst Schools Get 'Exemplary' Status

All the others were rated "commendable," another top category.

ELMHURST, IL – In 2019, two of Elmhurst School District 205's schools received an "exemplary" designation.

On Thursday, it was revealed that six local schools reached such a status. The state hasn't given designations since 2019.

Receiving "exemplary" status are Bryan Middle School and Emerson, Field, Hawthorne, Jefferson and Lincoln elementary schools.

Such a designation means that a school is performing in the top 10 percent of those statewide, with no underperforming student groups.

All of Elmhurst's other schools were rated "commendable." That means a school has no underperforming student groups, a graduation rate greater than 67 percent and whose performance is not in the top 10 percent.

The state released statistics for schools statewide Thursday morning.

Patch reported that York's SAT scores fell again and that elementary and middle schools made up lost ground.
