Mystery Bullet Hole, Dog Bite: Elmhurst Cops
A resident reports a bullet hole on house, but doesn't know circumstances, report says.
ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving a mysterious bullet hole, a dog bite, a domestic disturbance, a missing daughter, a nursing home theft, a phone scam and a stolen car. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Bullet hole
- A resident in the 200 block of North Melrose Avenue told police Sunday that he found a bullet hole in the siding of the north side of his house. An officer inspected the siding and found the hole, but did not find any projectiles.

- A person was entering the dog park on Elm Creek Drive with his dog when another dog began to fight with his at 4 p.m. Saturday. While trying to break up the fight, the victim was bitten in his left hand. The case has been referred to DuPage County Animal Control.
Domestic
- A domestic disturbance was reported about 6:30 p.m. Saturday at West Lake and North Church. The victim told police that she was involved in a fight with the suspect, but was not injured and did not wish to pursue charges. The victim said the suspect grabbed the car keys from the ignition and threw them out the window. There were no signs of injuries.

- A mother told police Thursday that her daughter walked out of the house the previous day and had not returned. The girl entered a dark red sedan and left. She has a history of running away.
Nursing home theft
- A resident of Lexington of Elmhurst nursing home, 400 W. Butterfield Road, told police Friday that she placed money and personal documents in an envelope in her room and that the following day, it was missing. Numerous workers have access to her room. The theft was believed to have happened between noon Wednesday and 11 p.m. Thursday.
Phone scam
- A resident in the 400 block of North Larch Avenue received a call Friday from someone believed to be her grandson who said he had been arrested and needed money. The resident transferred money through Western Union to a suspect's account. The victim contacted Western Union and received a full refund.
Bikes found
- An officer found a pink Diamondback Octane bicycle Sunday in the 300 block of East Butterfield Avenue. The bike was paced into evidence for safekeeping.
- A Kink Kicker BMX bicycle was found Saturday in the playground at Pioneer Park in the 500 block of South Mitchell Avenue. The bike was placed into evidence for safekeeping.
Stolen car seen
- Officers witnessed a stolen car traveling west on North Avenue near Berteau Avenue about 8 p.m. Saturday. The car was stolen in Cicero. Because the driver was speeding and changing lanes in an unsafe manner, officers were unable to stop the car.
Shoplifting
- Mariano's, 678 N. York St., reported that a man stole over-the-counter medication at 5 p.m. Thursday. He entered the passenger side of a car, which then headed west on Industrial Drive.
Driving violations
- Kenosha Simpson, 30, of Bloomingdale, was cited about 4 p.m. Thursday at York and Belden on a charge of unlawful possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle. She was released on bond.
- Robert S. Wienski, 33, of Elmhurst, was cited about 8:30 a.m. Friday in the 200 block of North West on charges of driving with a suspended license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released on bond.
- Rodigo Puentes-Palos, 21, of Stone Park, was cited about noon Friday in the 200 block of East North on charges of no valid driver's license, possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle and no seat belt. He was released on bond.
- Carlos A. Delgado, 25, of Grayslake, was cited shortly before 1 p.m. Friday at East North and North Melrose on charges of unlawful possession of medical marijuana in a motor vehicle by a passenger and failure to wear a seat belt. He was released on bond.
- Alyssa Cordero, 23, of Chicago, was cited about 9:30 p.m. Friday at West North and North Addison on charges of unlawful possession of marijuana by a passenger and unlawful use of a phone. She was released on bond.
- Donald McPherson, 34, of Broadview, was arrested shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday at East North and North Melrose on McHenry County Sheriff's Office and Broadview Police Department warrants and charges of driving with a suspended license, obstructed rear window and failure to secure a child. He was released on bond.
- Alfredo Alvarez-Hernand, 51, of Chicago, was cited about 12:30 a.m. Monday at East St. Charles and North Illinois on a charge of no valid driver's license. He was released on bond.
- Davontae Burrell, 28, of Hillside, was cited shortly before 3 a.m. Monday at Butterfield and Colfax on charges of driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding. He was released on bond.
