New Details In Elmhurst Shooting
A rifle is recovered, and police give a description of a car.
ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst police have recovered the rifle that was believed to have been used in a shooting Thursday night in a neighborhood near Butterfield Park, police said this morning. Officers responded to shots fired shortly before 9 p.m. in the 800 block of South Linden Avenue. When police arrived, they found a 54-year-old man who was the victim of a gunshot wound.
Witnesses report that a newer model, light-colored SUV heading west in the 300 block of Van Buren slowed and someone from inside fired several shots at the victim who was walking on the sidewalk, according to a news release. The SUV continued west on Van Buren toward Colfax.
The victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he is recovering from gunshot wounds, police said.

Police are asking that anyone with information or video footage of the incident or immediate area to contact the Elmhurst Police Department at 630-530-3050. This remains an active and ongoing investigation, police said.
