Not-for-profit Launches Local Government 101 to Educate Residents on Local Government

Villa Park, IL, December 2, 2013 — The not-for-profit organization Open Local Illinois announces the launch of their Local Government 101 program to fill a void in the publics' education about local government and how it operates. Local Government 101 provides residents an online resource and outlet to ask questions about local government and the issues facing local government across the state of Illinois.

Starting today, residents can visit the website www.openlocalillinois.org and click on Local Government 101 to submit questions about their local government. Once a question is submitted a staff member will then respond via email to the question with a thorough answer and additional resources, if available, for the resident to utilize. As more questions are gathered, a comprehensive online reference will be developed for residents and others to search.

Nicholas Gaudi, the Director of Community and Government Relations for Open Local Illinois stated, "We look to build a following with residents across the state, allowing them to ask us questions they may have been too afraid to ask publicly because they believed the questions were too simple, or because they believed the questions were too complex for them to receive an honest answer from their local officials."
