One Earth Film Festival Returns to Elmhurst College

Sean Penn documentary, The Human Experiment, sheds light on thousands of untested chemicals in everyday products

Elmhurst Cool Cities and Elmhurst College will screen the feature-length documentary The Human Experiment as part of the One Earth Film Festival on Sunday, March 6, at 1 p.m. at Elmhurst College, Illinois Hall, Schaible Science Center (www.elmhurst.edu/campusmap).

The 2016 One Earth Film Festival utilizes compelling environmental films and programming to bring about an understanding of climate change, sustainability and the power of people.

The Human Experiment lifts the veil on thousands of untested chemicals in our everyday products, our homes and inside of us. Simultaneously, the prevalence of many diseases continues to rise. From Oscar winner Sean Penn and Emmy winning journalists Dana Nachman and Don Hardy, The Human Experiment tells the personal stories of people who believe their lives have been affected by chemicals and takes viewers on the front lines as activities go head-to-head with the powerful and well-funded chemical industry.

One Earth Film Festival audiences have grown from 500 in its 2012 inaugural year to 2,500 in 2015, drawing from more than 88 ZIP codes across five states. This year, the Festival anticipates increased attendance as it expands its reach and impact region-wide.
