Only the Weather Defeated the 15U Cougars

15U Cougars Baseball Club the only undefeated team in College Exposure Showcase.

Over the weekend of June 12 – 14, 2015 the 15U Cougars competed in the College Exposure Showcase held near DeKalb, Illinois. The Cougars Baseball Club were the only undefeated baseball team in the tournament. Everyone lost to Mother Nature’s torrential rains on Sunday the 14th, however. The Cougars roared through pool play during the tournament. They defeated the Naperville Renegades, Rockford Riverhawks, and the Tri Cities Storm. Bracket play was washed out by rain.

The Cougars 8 to 5 victory over Naperville was highlighted by five strikeouts from both Andrew Falduto and Trevor Fullmer and powered by offensive from Connor Gwaltney (2-3), C. J. West (1-3), Trevor Fullmer (3-3), A. J. Parnell (2-3), and Matt Crandall (2-3). Next up for the Cougars was the Rockford Riverhawks. The Cougars defeated the Riverhawks on the coattails of Scott Tuckers 8 strikeouts.

The Cougars short weekend was capped by an 11 run shutout of the Tri Cities Storm. The offensive Cougar show was dominated by Simon Marinelli (2-2), Trevor Fuller (2-3), Matt Crandall (1-1), and Jake Loerop (1-1). C. J. West went the distance against the Storm and shot an impressive .682 strike percentage.

The Cougars are already fielding applications for 2016 managers! We are seeking managers for both a 2016 9U baseball and 10U fastpitch softball teams. Tryouts will be August 1st and 2nd this year!
