Outages Affect Thousands In Elmhurst: ComEd

Temperatures are soaring during what is expected to be the hottest day of the year so far.

ELMHURST, IL – Nearly 3,000 electric customers in Elmhurst were without power mid-morning Tuesday, according to ComEd.

ComEd's online map shows that 38,000 customers throughout its northern Illinois service area are affected by outages. Caused by Monday night's storm, most of the blackouts are in the western suburbs.

For most of the local outages, ComEd has not given estimated restoration times, saying they are "pending assessment."

This is happening as Tuesday is expected to be the hottest day of the year so far. Tuesday's high is forecast at 98 degrees and Wednesday's at 99 degrees.

Cooling stations are available at Elmhurst City Hall, the Elmhurst Police Department and Elmhurst Public Library.
